We were told this was an early 18th century pirate trunk. Metal details appear hand forged. Love any info regarding it or a translation on the label text.

Nice construction.
Probably some sort of dowry chest ("Gifte"-- married).
You should be able to use an online translator-- appears to be Danish. Last few words "haand til haand" translates to hand to hand.
With husbands name "Jo..." and wife "Sophie".

Beautiful find
lucky there weren’t any
dead virus pirates inside
Wow makes it even more special. I know right!!!! I was just hoping it wasn't haunted hahaha
Any idea on the age?
Wonder how it got to australia
These are chests that were, and still, pasted down thru many generations in East and West Europe. Not an everyday find on the open market.
