The elderly lady that lives diagonally across from the back of my house had a garage sale a few years ago and I found this old clock for sale, can't remember if she said it was a wedding or anniversary present but it didn't go so she didn't want it anymore, she like me goes to garage sales and the charity shops so no doubt has a heap of excess stuff (hence the garage sale I suppose). It is a combination of electric and clockwork, I guessed it was probably gummed up and took it to pieces cleaned and oh so lightly oiled it and it has been going by my desk for a few years now and keeps good time, I only touch it is to adjust at daylight saving and once a new battery. Clicks and clacks quite loudly so the office is a good place for it. Neighbour was very pleased to hear it was again working. 230mm high to the top of the handle.
Did you say battery? It looked like a 100 day clock?
Yes Dave battery, it lives under the base. If you look carefully in photo 4 you can see the motor at the bottom of the gears which all have a purpose and move the hands. The regulator balls are just pinged by a crank so just look good spinning back and forth.
