This TRI-STAR is my personal second of these machines, having been rescued from the Re-Store (for a whopping $5?!) several years ago, as it is pictured here. It is a 50th ANNIVERSARY model, bearing the special commemorative (transfer?) logo on one side, opposite a goldtone TRI-STAR IEC badge. Serial number 9076700. Its 'hammered silver over black' paint job is likely also part of the anniversary package.
It works just fine, by now I'd even imagine the sorta 'funny odor' it had when I got it and tested it (a *used* vacuum from the thrift store...what, its supposed to be *springtime fresh* ???) has subsided, if not a quick wash or replacement of its dust bag would cure that.
Still to come -- my TRI-STAR #3, (and its Turbo Brush) the one I currently use to clean my own home, on those odd occasions when I do so... :-)

I don't know why that'd be vintagevacfan, just that Compact and Tri-Star both liked to change color schemes more frequently after years worth of the original aqua Compacts. I kinda think I saw an actual brown one once in a vac store somewhere but may be thinking of something else. (or maybe somebody repainted one?) Do you (or anybody) know if the original machines first made to clean airplanes had a paint scheme? Again I'm thinking remembering seeing or reading once that they had a silver/aluminum exterior. Wonder if any of *those* still actually exist, it'd be a fun thing for a vacuum collector to have?!!!

The c1 c2 were a tan beige color and yes they do pop up on ebay sometimes .
