These 4 1-2"W amber and blue glass parakeets are posed in the face down feeding position (although they look sleepy, in reality parakeets sleep standing up). Both with Kanawha Glass label, item #28 from their 1980-1981 catalog. Kanawha was the only vintage West Virginia glass co. to make a parakeet, and as a former ' keet owner I was delighted to recently find the blue bird which was the original featured color in the catalog, to keep my amber parakeet company :)
They are so sweet, I love both colours and sleek shapes and yeah they DO look like they're both nodding off! Or else they're admiring each other's feet, or something really interesting on the ground! :P I think the pose is both really unique, inventive and hilarious(you can imagine LOADS of possibilities with it!) XD
Oh, I love your little glass parakeets Jenni!!

Thank you Lauren for your delightful comment about these glass parakeets, you definitely have a lot of possible scenarios in mind for their head down pose lol! They absolutely could be scavenging for something on the ground, I am sure the wild ones in Australia do just that, I am limited to only having one caged bird at a time for a pet - my grandma had a couple and I remember they were always arguing and often pecking at each other, also remember reading you should keep a solitary male parakeet if you want it to learn to talk, so we did that and were rewarded with lil talkers in two of our birds (they were so precious, I really miss them :( )
Scott thank you so much for your great comment, I am so thrilled you love my little guys - the parakeet is a tiny often overlooked little bird, but it is a great pet as they are always alert to your feelings, and in their youth very eager to learn new words (males only, the females just chirp)
Thank you for your super praise Phil, I am so happy you found this glass pair gorgeous, their colors are very complementary and Kanawha was known for their pretty ocean blue color
Thanks so much vintagelamp for your fab compliment & also loving the colors on my sweet little 'keets, they are bowing their heads to humbly thank you!!
