the WAGNER HANDY sweeper

While we've been dealing with things that SUCK, here's another kinda thing that DOESN'T SUCK at all...?! ;-) :-)

The HANDY by WAGNER OF MILWAUKEE, this is simply a carpet sweeper without electricity or vacuum involved at all. Smaller plastic versions of these are often found in restaurants and commercial spaces even to this day, this one is made of stamped steel and probably dates from the 1970's or so, and was intended for household use. Lots of peoples' Grandmas had one of these in the broom closet...

Pushing it back and forth allows the textured wheels to contact and spin the ends of the brushroll mounted in the center, which flings surface dust and dirt either way up into the pair of flip-open catch bins. (both closed pic 3, one open pic 4) That's all there is to it...it is indeed "HANDY" to pick up stuff like pet hair or grass clippings or things of that nature that get left on top of carpets -- but it doesn't even attempt to actually "clean" anything below the surface. (break out the Tri-Star for that!) It also does a resoundly poor job on smooth surface floors, tending to fling stuff around randomly more than picking anything up.
