Vintage 'Hound of the Baskervilles' stamp from the 1997 Tales of Terror set.
Hound Of The Baskervilles British postage stamp, face value 43p, from Royal Mail's 'Tales of Terror set' set, released 13th May 1997.
From the internet:
Stamp features the hound from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's 1901 novel. Illustration by British artist Ian Pollock. Interestingly, Pollock's first attempt at getting his work on postage stamps was unsuccessful after the Queen deemed his illustrations of Tess of the d'Urbervilles and the Mayor of Casterbridge "unsuitable" for a 1990 set dedicated to Thomas Hardy. Seven years later, he was commissioned by the Royal Mail to produce the entire set of four 'Tales of Terror' stamps and suffered no such embarrassment. Size 30 mm x 41 mm.
The movie nearly scared the life out of me when I was a child! Great stamps!
Watchsearcher,
