I work with only vintage or antique corals, because harvesting new colonies of living stone constitutes theft from our struggling sea—probably a unique feature for light years.
I compiled this necklace using only the longest and straightest branches of Mediterranean Corallium rubrum taken from three authentic flapper necklaces bought at auction. I don't believe corals such as these are any longer extant, nor may they ever be again. I had posted this necklace on my website, Friday's Joy, but in 18 months it was favorited only once and I decided that since I'll never have another, I'm not willing to part with it.
Strung alomg the traditional lines of Navajo necklaces, the three strands are gathered into sterling cones and sterling-wired onto an artisan-made, sterling hook-and-eye clasp.
Thanks for your kind comments on previous posts of my works.
