ok, this posting makes me laugh, kinda. When my 3 brothers and I were growing up in the late 60's we had our share of the then new Hot Wheels that hit the market. We had dozens and dozens of them between us four kids. Sadly only a few survive in like new condition, only because our dad kept them with his Christmas display items for at least 30 years. We were never allowed to play with those. However, we did play with the others, and then later the stash we had grew smaller and smaller til we had none left. One day about 6 years ago while out cutting grass in the back yard I noticed something in the dirt. Ha! So thats where the 1968 Custom Corvette went! It had been there for at least 45 years. Sure it has seen better days but it is now back in the collection. A few years later while digging in the flower bed next to the house, what turns up? The remains of the 1969 Hot Wheels Paddy Wagon we used to have. Also now back in the collection as a reminder the good old days.
Great find. I destroyed a bunch as a kid too..fireworks, demolition derby and epic jumps.
Reminds me of an article I saw recently..Photographer found a 1970 Chevelle SS 396 car buried amongst tall grass on a guys farm along with other cars...man if he knew how much that car is worth, it'd be inside.
Hindsight, an amazing thing! I have a hunch I know how the Corvette ended up in the back yard, a hundred feet from the house. Maybe a Badminton Racket played a small role.
