My 7 year old daughter was out looking for arrow heads when she found this rock. She brought it home and wanted to know what it is. I told her I have no clue. We were watching the show and she said "hey daddy ask Mike" I thouhgt hey why not! maybe someone here will have a clue so I can tell her something. I had it looked at a few times and it IS stone! You can see on it in a few places where its scrathed from being rubbed on something to make its shape. It was found in NW ohio. Please if someone has a clue please let a 7 yr old know what it is! ;) The picture is of it in HER hand!
My guess is that it is some type of tool.Looks to imperfect to be modern.I say what you have there is a very nice find.Good chance someone here will know.I will be watching to find out also.

Yeah I have seen those pics and tho it does look like it those are 3-5 inches tall where as hers is the size of a hershey kiss. I do truely appreciate you taking the time tho I really do! Maybe were getting closer!

I really don't know any thing about this, but it resembles what my ex use to prop up bisque inside of the kiln, to stack evenly, again don't know, but might be worth looking into
@AR8Jason It was found out in the country about 6 miles from town in a plowed field next to a big woods and very small stream. My dad takes my daughter out there alot and they always seem to find arrow heads but never anything like this. If you ever heard of the canals that ran from river to river in ohio it was found approx 3/4 of a mile from a canal. Dont know if that helps? 1 mile north of where this was found is a field next to a river where my best friends grandpa grew up. he was 100 when he died lived in the same place all his life. in his collection was 8 4x8 tables full of everything from arrow heads to peace pipes and even a few animal carvings. I hope this isnt too much info. Again I really do appreciate everyones time! Oh and yes I figured it out after I posted the pics and started browsing! Hope Im not bothering anyone!

I used to dig these up along a bank by a creek in the trailer park I lived in Canandaigua Ny. I was trying to explain them to my daughter and she thought I was crazy. They are rocks that look like hershey kisses
I think it could be a small well used pestle, perhaps for grinding pigments.
I understand that this post was made some time ago. We have a bunch of these stones at our shop. It is tumbling media. Polishing stones.
Yes usually made with ceramic they are used to for hard heavy metals such as steel. Helps removes rust from the steel also.
