I don't have much purple glass in my collection...not really sure why as it's a colour I like, & I'm not averse to spouting some purple prose from time to time, being the lavender menace I am, straight (not) outta the "Mauve Decade".
Maybe it's just harder to find...but having found two nice examples recently, I was inspired to put together a purple themed display.
Photos 1 & 2 show glass by Legras, Kralik, Rindskopf, & Richardson's. The small purple vase on the far left is unknown.
Photo 3 shows that small vase alone - I don't think I've ever got around to posting it even though I've had it for several years.
It is purple "milk glass", which I think is fairly unusual. It looks like one of those familiar tall Victorian milk glass "mantel vases" with enamel decoration , but in a diminutive form, just 12 cm tall.
yes there are colours that were the hit or must of that years.... like orange....
Yes, I agree, purple is one of those more unusual colours, not always to everyone's taste...& also, apparently a difficult colour to achieve consistent results in glass - making...
I really love the color! Beautiful!!!
Thanks so much, vintagelamp!
