This type of glass was intended to look like semi precious stones. Versions were made by both Harrach and Loetz. I learned this from posting it in a Facebook group. The two knowledgeable people who commented agreed the glass was made by both companies. However one favoured Harrach and one favoured Loetz in this case.
I bought it because it looked good and I'd never seen the décor previously. So lucky find.

Oh, it sure does look good! A very stylish & special piece, indeed!
Thank you Marin, it was nice to find something different!
Pretty and interesting vase. These matte grinded rings are intriguing.I've never seen such decoration on marmoriertes glass.
I hadn't even noticed those three ground bands, Iwona. They are meticulously placed and would have needed dedicated machinery. I wonder whether they are the usual preparation for gilding. It would make sense of the bulge in the long neck. There has to be a reason for them, but I can only guess!
I think you're right ,Peggy.Those rings aren't necessary as a decoration unless they're a base for gilding.
