He played Tipitina's in New Orleans in 1986 and was great,
but did the whole show and two encores
WITHOUT doing "House of The Rising Sun".
How could he play a New Orleans gig without doing that song?
The crowd chanted and stomped
and we all screamed for five minutes
until he reluctantly came back out,
walked up to the mic as the guys were strapping on their instruments
and shouted,
"You don't know how much I HATE this f*cking song!"
Then he did the song anyway and everyone went nuts!
It was a good night out.
He wore a blue t-shirt that read
"ERIC BURDEN?
F*CK ME, I THOUGHT HE WAS DEAD!"
