Would embossed or raised letters be a better description? Anyway this is a rather old sign for a National Fence. The more current signs have metal tabs to attach to the chain link fence. This one most likely was held on with a wood backing or perhaps two signs together. There is one hole on each end of the sign. It is also larger at over 19" long and 4 1/2" wide. And yes it says "NATIONAL" in stamped letters. Luckily the rust has highlighted the letters making it easier to read. Plus it has added some needed color. I have it up on the wall with my other signs outside.
Coming tomorrow will be a kettenkrad so you will not want to miss that.
