Loetz: Animals in crystal martele and crystal smooth.

Glass animals were probably made during the entire production period of the Loetz company, but they are still relatively rare to find. These animal figures were made in a wide range of colors and decors, for example in crystal, martele, opal with papillon, green wave optic with martele, cephalonia, candia silver iris, creta cisele ribbed, dark blue papillon, dark blue silver iris crocodile etc ... The swan is the first detectable animal that was produced by the Lötz company around 1892 (PN I 4003, 1904: PN II 1556/1557). In the same year an elephant (PN I 4821) was added, followed by deer heads in the form of rhytons (drinking horns - PN I 6761, 6764/6765). Marie Kirschner designed an owl (PN 1090/74, 1090/92) in 1903 and later in 1905 a marabou (1090/172) and an upright hare (1090/173). From 1904 the Lötz company produced other animals, a stork (PN II 996/997/998, 1223/1224 and 1273), a snake (PN II 1271/1272), this is the rarest animal to be found next to the lying hare, that the company made. Frau Adlerova wrote (Lötz, Ricke) that this figure was very successful. I only know the one in the Sumavy Museum and one that was offered to me about 30 years ago, but which unfortunately was defective. This is followed by an owl (PN II 1922/1923/1924 and 1925) and the Lohengrin vase (PN II 2064, - 2067). In 1906 a parrot (PN II 3961-3966) and a hare (PN II 3969-3971) were added. This was followed in 1908 by the two upright rabbits (PN II 5343/5344), these certainly go back to the design by Marie Kirschner. In 1910 Marie Kirschner designed her cat (PN II 6946), which was often copied by other companies (e.g. Poschinger), as well as a swan (PN 1090/264) and a frog (PN 1090/265). In the same year three frogs (PN II 7217-7219) were created, which can certainly also be traced back to the Kirschner design. This was followed by four different lizards (PN II 7458/7459, PN II 7705/7706). In 1912 elephants (PN II 8578-8583) were added to the program again. In the 1920s, animals were then produced in large quantities, mainly for export to the USA. These animals were often part of a vase or served as a base for centerpieces. In 1929 a seal (PN III 4824/1) and a hippopotamus (PN III 4825) are shown in the cutting book, these animals were probably made for Karl Palda (Com. 2192), who was a customer in Klostermühle from 1887 to the end of the 1930s . Loetz: Tiere in Kristall martele und Kristall glatt.
Glas-Tiere wurden wohl während der gesamten Produktionszeit der Firma Loetz hergestellt, trotzdem sind diese relativ selten zu finden. Diese Tier-Figuren wurden in einer breiten Palette von Farben und Dekoren gefertigt, zum Beispiel in Kristall, Martele, Opal mit Papillon, grün wellenoptisch mit Martele, Cephalonia, Candia Silberiris, Creta Cisele gerippt, dunkelblau Papillon, dunkelblau Silberiris Krokodil usw...  Der Schwan ist das erste nachweisbare Tier, das von der Firma Lötz um 1892 (PN I 4003, 1904: PN II 1556/1557) hergestellt wurde. Im selben Jahr kam ein Elefant (PN I 4821) dazu, es folgten Hirschköpfe in Form von Rhytons (Trinkhörner- PN I 6761, 6764/6765). Marie Kirschner entwarf 1903 eine Eule (PN 1090/74, 1090/92) und später 1905 einen Marabu (1090/172) und einen aufrecht stehenden Hasen (1090/173). Ab 1904 fertigte die Firma Lötz andere Tiere, einen Storch (PN II 996/997/998, 1223/1224 und 1273), eine Schlange (PN II 1271/1272), diese ist neben dem liegenden Hasen das am seltenste zu findende Tier, das die Firma hergestellt hat. Frau Adlerova schrieb hierzu (Lötz, Ricke), daß diese Figur sehr erfolgreich war. Ich kenne nur die im Museum Sumavy und eine, die mir vor ca. 30 Jahren angeboten wurde, die leider aber defekt war. Es folgen eine Eule (PN II 1922/1923/1924 und 1925) und die Lohengrinvase (PN II 2064, - 2067). 1906 kamen ein Papagei (PN II 3961-3966) und ein Hase (PN II 3969-3971) dazu. Darauf folgten 1908 die beiden aufrecht stehenden  Hasen (PN II 5343/5344), diese gehen sicher auf den Entwurf von Marie Kirschner zurück. 1910 entwarf Marie Kirschner ihre oft von anderen Firmen (z. B. Poschinger) kopierte Katze (PN II 6946), ferner einen Schwan (PN 1090/264) und einen Frosch (PN 1090/265). Im selben Jahr entstanden drei Frösche ( PN II 7217 -7219), die sicher auch auf den Kirschner Entwurf zurückzuführen sind. Darauf folgten vier unterschiedliche Echsen (PN II 7458/ 7459, PN II 7705/7706). 1912 wurden wieder Elefanten (PN II 8578-8583) in das Programm aufgenommen. In den 20er Jahren wurden dann Tiere in großer Menge vor allem für den Export nach den USA hergestellt. Diese Tiere waren oft Teil einer Vase oder dienten als Fuß für Tafel-Aufsätze. Siehe hierzu PN III 2704, 2705, 2819, 2822, 2823, 3419, 3480-3490, 3545, 3577 (das wohl einzig erhaltene Schwein im Schnittverzeichnis), 3677, 4043, 4104.
1929 ist eine Robbe (PN III 4824/1) und ein Nilpferd (PN III 4825) im Schnittbuch aufgezeigt, diese Tiere wurden wahrscheinlich für Karl Palda (Com. 2192), der von 1887 bis Ende der 30er Jahre Kunde in Klostermühle war, hergestellt. Sie wurden als Ständer für Likörsets verwendet. Bekannt ist auch ein Rhinozerus, gezeigt auf CW von: philmac51 (Danke!).
