I bought this vase in the Netherlands. After some research I found out that the sticker on the bottom is from Design Arts Centre from Brisbane Australia. I also have the idea that there is a signature scratched into the wet clay but it is partly under the sticker. Obviously I don't want to remove the sticker. Maybe someone can tell me more about this vase based on the style or the signature

The Design Arts Centre was active from 1967 to 1974, I think.
167 Elizabeth Street, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia
      Lilly Hitch, director.

Can you tell what is the first letter of the second name ??? The first looks like it starts with an M..
ICAN ask in some Australian Pottery groups if you allow me to use your images.

vetraio50, Thank you for helping me.
Yes, you can use the images. I'll see if I can make an imprint of the signature on a piece of paper tonight with a soft pencil. Maybe it's better to see which letters are in the signature.

I have posted a new image of a printout of the signature.

I was totally incorrect with the 'M'.

Thanks for the pencil tracing of the signature. That made it relatively simple : Errol Barnes. He was born in 1941. According to Judith Pearce's site on Australian Pottery marks he began work in 1965. You will find this site helpful :

Errol trained with two of Australia's foremost potters at the Central Technical College, Brisbane : Milton Moon and Carl McConnell. One of his first solo exhibitions was in 1969 at the Design Arts Centre an I suppose this could well have been from that exhibition. His work is sought after here in Oz.

      Awesome vetraio50,, you are great.

What a great website we use. I could never have found this on my own.
Impressive also that a vase from Australia ends up in the Netherlands. How small the world can be.
vetraio50, Again thanks for the help and stay safe downunder
