I was at a local car boot sale today and came across these few pieces- a brooch group. The first and my favorite brooch of the bunch is the little Manx brooch, in the shape of the 'three-legs.' that's so synonymous with the Isle of Man. First off, that's such a strange and quirky little place in itself so it's only fitting they should have a really unique symbol on their flag and elsewhere. I think it may actually stand for something like resilience? 'Whatever way you throw me I'll land standing up?' Not sure what the little gem in the middle is, but it's got a really nice lilac shade and was most definitely a souvenir piece from there.
My second favourite of the bunch is the little hummingbird brooch which is the sweetest- it's in such a wonderful condition and so bright and colourful, almost tropical which is fitting this time of year!
There's also a fish brooch that looks to be made of clay and then a circular one showing a bunch of flowers, none of these brooches have any makers marks on them anywhere either except the last one, with the bunch of flowers which looks like a crown and a fish inside it and the number six?
Cost- €2( $2.35/1.71)
Adorable brooch bunch! My fave of course is the hummingbird, then the pretty fish, and I really like the lilac enamel lily flower which does appear to have a long feathered bird next to it - so unique. The tumbling legs with purple stone are a very fun logo, nice haul :)
Thank you Newfld, and funny, only now I see the flowing bird once you've pointed it out to me! XD
i seen a vintage glass maker with the 3 leg logo like yours ..hmmmm can think of the name right off hand ,,,lol getting old i guess..
Thank you rambojoe- interesting, they may have been Manx, or using the symbol for resilience?!
