Cleaning out my parents home and found old 78 records. From what I've gathered, this is a very rare record. Don't know all the information, but they put out limited albums and the recording studio burnt down. Well, I will do more research and add more information.
Walter Mitchell was born in New Orleans 1919
blues singer harmonica player
The record you have is made from shellac
not vinyl it was released in 1948
JVB :: Joseph von Battle Recording company
was founded in 1947 and operated
out of his record store (Joe’s record shop)
In Detroit Michigan
The fire you mentioned was in 1967
and destroyed most of the original master recordings
New to me.
Hey Artfoot you gotta post some more of your old records also
Oh wow Vynil, it's not vinyl; it's shellac. That just blew my mind. Well, my parents had several about 15 albums. That information is pretty interesting, thank you.
Vynil, it's pretty dirty. How do you clean your records?
Some people will scarf and laugh But
Each and every new acquisition
Of old vinyl ,
I use warm water and Dawn liquid
in my hand and a soft drying towel
And very important,I go the opposite
Direction that the stylus (needle )
drags along the record , careful with that label
most can take a little water
but no scrubbing
Rinse well and air dry
But not on the clothesline

Ok, thanks Vinyl. I want to prevent as much damage as possible. Warm water, Dawn liquid, soft drying towel, careful with label, no scrubbing, rinse well, and no clothesline...got it! :-) Thanks again!
Whee and the Chee-Wee is ok
Hope I helped,,I’ve been exposed to music
ever since I was born
