We have this tall D & R GW container that appears to be a laundry hamper of sorts. Galvanized metal. Its actually in pretty good condition except for some rust on the bottom of the interior. Any idea of how old this is or what it was used for?

Are you by chance in the western states?

Yes, we are in the northern front range, north of Denver.

My husband has had this in his D & RGW Narrow Gauge collection for decades. We suspect that it is a laundry hamper, but don't know for sure what it was originally used for.

Congeu knows what I was aiming for and he is right. To continue a bit more these were multi use cans for everything that would fit included but not limited to garbage.

Flrjr2, That was our second guess, that it was a garbage can. I will have to check, but I seem to remember that the lid doesn't come off, so that made me think that dumping garbage might not that convenient.

      Any idea of its age?
