SHERMAN DARK PINK PINWHEEL BROOCH, 1960's, GOLD TONE BACKING AND SIGNATURE TAG
Obtained approx early Jan 2021 this posting is to show what the Sherman tags that went with some purchases instead of a signed piece on a cartouche on the back of a pin. These were given when a piece had no signature. A lot of pieces had no signature, hence the use of a tag attached by string. Sherman usually included a box that had the Sherman name on them. The box is very nice however most jewellers preferred their own boxes so these boxes were likely destroyed. This piece was sold to me by Renee. A nice colour for this pin design which will always be my favourite design for a pin, the pin reaches about 3 inches across. The Jewels of Elegance tag is English on one side and French on the other. If you look closely you can see the round chain attachment that Sherman liked to put on a lot of these Sherman large pinwheels. I have seen a number of them all on this style of brooch, so you could wear it as a pendant !~...........H
Awesome Sherman brooch in my favorite shade of pink, this is a real showstopper - it looks like a gorgeous flower in full bloom. Top notch as always Phil!

Beautiful as always!
when I saw the beauty of this brooch I have to admit my mouth dropped opened and "aaahhhh" is all that came out, WOW!!
this is a lovely lovely brooch the pink in the pinwheel design is outstanding!
Thank you Eileen, I wholeheartedly agree with you that pieces do not need to be signed to be important. I am just mentioning what a lot of Sherman collectors think and say in their posts. On Sherman I would prefer a signed piece just for the fact that a lot of these people are so fickle they believe that a piece HAS to be signed to be a real sherman whatever that means. AS for d&e or Juliana it does not matter and their beauty is that they signed no piece really. I admire that most about Juliana - you don't have to hunt down a piece with a signature. As for Renee she is a Sherman Seller who has a lot of leads so she sells 5 or so pieces a week. She also now sells a lot of pieces online now on Etsy and she repairs some pieces for people who have small problems esp. missing stones. She only collects the Siam Red Japanned pieces as a collection. The rest she sells.
Ahhhh, the giant Pinwheel Brooch is one of my all time favourite Sherman styles. I love the way you photographed yours. Just a magical picture. And of course the most perfect pink!!
