John Fitzgerald Kennedy fifty cent coins used to be pretty common:

Perhaps they still are, but they tend not to hang around in general circulation. One reason might be collectors, but I suspect another is that U.S. cashiers regard any coin larger than a quarter as a nuisance, and hand them off to the bank as soon as they can.
Nowadays, the U.S. government is doing a disservice to the people they 'honor' by putting their image on over-sized coins.
Wheat pennies are becoming rare in general circulation, and that definitely is because of collectors:

Bicentennial quarters are fun too. I don't know their value, but it is probably just a little more than 25c now...? (I have some of those, I should find out!)

@AnythingObscure indeed yes I've started to collect these because I see it has two years on it which caught my eye. I dont really mind the value but still fun to collect and im glad you have some as well. Take care
I found a Bison- Tenniel quarter one time but
I got rid of it ,because I couldn’t find the buffalo

Hey wait a minute,,,,I found the Bison from the Bison- Tenniel Quarter it’s on the back of a buffalo nickel ,,,:~)
