This is an antique Russian lacquer miniature box about which I would like to learn more. What I have been told is that it is pre-Revolution, based on the "two Tsar" stamp in the lid, and was made in Fedoskino. The artist and date are unknown. It is 5 inches in diameter & 2.75 high. Looking closely at the images, you will see that the surface has crazed somewhat, most apparent in the sky. Otherwise, the surfaces are all without crazing and the colors are all very bright. Regarding the Troika painting, being a curved surface, it is hard to get a sharp image while maintaining a reasonably accurate color match. Also, the reddish-gold clothes do not photograph well; the gold is more striking in real life.
Any information that can be provided will be greatly appreciated.
I love the painting, so small, yet, conveys the girls’ concern for the 3 galloping horses pulling the small cart so fast and one girl probably asking the driver to slow down….he seems unconcerned. >lol< He’s making ME nervous!
Sorry I can’t offer even a tad of information you are seeking.
