Pedestal Ashtrays part II
So today I worked on the pedestal Ashtrays I previously posted. I found some Nevr-Dull that is probably the same vintage as the Ashtrays. I wanted to clean up some of the corrosion, but not remove all of the patina.
Sansa waiting in the background for frisbee time.
The one ashtray I figured out, had a table top ashtray on top of it. A closer look revealed a couple holes where there was a handle similar to the other ashtray. So I found some aluminum rod in the workshop and fabbed and bent it. I then polished with some Mother's polish. It needs a little more work, but I think it came out pretty good(left one in last picture). You can see in the second picture, that I had used a copper wire to try and make a template for the size.
Those turned out beautiful! Perfect job on the handle! Sansa looks content for the moment. :-)
Thanks! I didn't want to over do them. I like a little rust and grunge..
Usually called floor ashtrays or standing ashtray or floor standing ashtray stands, there are many terms. The one on left you pointed out in the last ashtray stand pic, cleaned up so beautifully. I see a lot of these, but like I mentioned in one of your posts, most are trashed including the ones using some wood parts. Most of these were put out in damp garages to rust, forgotten.
