I acquired this abstract painting done by the late Sister Blanche Marie Gallagher, a art and pastoral studies instructor at Mundelein College in Chicago (now part of Loyola University) for over thirty years. When I first saw it, I fell in love with it and purchased it.
I do not know the title nor the date of when it was created, and I want to know to build a more complete history of the painting. I contacted the Women and Leadership Archives at Loyola University, but they were unable to give me much information about it—aside from some biographical information of the artist. I will contact the BVM archivist as well as the curator of art at the BVM campus in Dubuque, Iowa to see if they can shed any light.
Does anybody have any insights of the artist and her works? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
very nice composition and use of shapes!
I know something about this painting. It was in my late aunt’s house and I unknowingly sold to the the consignment store where you may have bought it recently.
Maryks, what can you tell me about it? Does it have a title? Year painted? Anything insightful? I’d love to know.
Unfortunately, I don’t know the title or year but it may have been purchased by my aunt during the time she attended and worked at Mundeline College and Loyola during mid-80’s until around 2010. More info might be gathered from the BVM mother house where I read there is a collection of the artist’s works. I also saw a condolence message on Legacy.com that referred to a painting that did have a title.
