my *not* license plates

Arkansas, like several other generally southern US states, only requires one license tag per registered vehicle to be displayed (and illuminated) on its rear. Since most other US states dictate two (front and rear) most *vehicles* also include holders for a pair of plates -- that leaves those of us down here with a potential blank spot to fill on our cars and trucks. Two options available for anybody that cares about that -- either remove the front tag holder from your car, (if it can be removed, some are easier than others) or stick *something else* up there instead -- there are as many possibilities for that as can be imagined, most being commercially available some (every!) where, or just coming free with a car from a lot... ;-) ;-) ;-)

I have done both, more often than not opting for removing the bracket altogether but not always. After coming across a couple of them again recently, I think this now represents all but one (soon to be shown as well) *non*-license plate that I've ever owned and/or used on one of my vehicles.

USA-1 was a Chevrolet slogan/ad campaign in the 1970's-80's -ish, I think. I don't believe I ever displayed this one on a car, simply because I've only *owned* one Chevrolet, many years ago, that had IA plates (a pair state) that I still have. This one *might* have come along with the 2nd one down, that one from a then local (here) GM dealership owned by a 'famous former football player', now conglomerated out of existence. Sidney Moncrief's car franchise might be gone, but presumably he is still a 'former football player' -- his logo plate anyway, I *do* remember finding (in a basement, not from his car lot) and am sure I've never used myself.

The 3rd down is the insignia for a U.S. Naval Flight Officer. I know this both because it is labeled thusly (lower LH corner) and because it was a gift from one of my sisters and her husband, *both of whom* officially (more than!) qualify for that description. Though I don't, I still displayed this plate on the (blue!) Oldsmobile I drove at the time.

The bottom two and their matching frames are all plastic (the others all embossed sheet metal) and are auto dealer logos that came with my current and immediate past F-150's. Neither lived on either truck longer than the time it took me to get it home from the purchase. The Pinnacle (another now gone dealership) disappeared along with the entire front plate bracket from its truck first thing, as it was mounted off-center and I liked the more balanced look without it better. The Crain didn't even make it out of the dealer lot as I'd transferred my plate already by the time I took delivery...my salesman even helped me swap it (and its plain chrome frame) because he knew one of the things I liked about the new truck was its slightly more extensive 'chrome' than the other, and they didn't have any chromed advertising ones to give me instead...? ;-) :-)

What went onto the front of that truck will be its own showing 'soon to come' -- stay tuned, ifn's any of y'all might be curious...??
