These similarly colored enamel & rhinestone bird brooches are by Sphinx from the 1960s. The larger crested bird with scalloped breast is 3"L with their signature oval cartouche mark (lower tail) plus their recessed number mark. The smaller 2 1-4" flying bird has the number mark only, both on goldtone. Sphinx jewelry was founded in 1950 in Chiswick, England
That is a gorgeous pair. Imagine these two together on a lovely sweater.
Some wonderful gilding processes have given these pieces such quality in that gilding, amazing !~
These two are beautiful!!! I can see them both on a branch in a rainforest somewhere both match each other really well- I’m really impressed, they go so well together, you definitely have ‘the eye’ for matching them up!
Special thanks to you all for the love

Searching you say the nicest & most awesome compliments, I am humbly grateful and thank you for those super kind words. I think many collectors here including yourself have excellent taste in beautiful things, I am just 'pleased as punch' when you guys enjoy my posts like these Sphinx birds - that is a vintage co. I've always loved esp for their great figurals like this. Only mysterious thing about them, they were rather stingy with using their pretty Sphinx signed oval cartouche mark, most of their work is only numbered, in which case I cross reference to be sure it is a design unique to them like this flying bird, which is sometimes called a swallow
Thanks so very much Karen for your fabulous praise for this bird duo, and I definitely love the idea of wearing them together, say on a sweater or coat - on opposite sides of course to give each its own attention :)
Phil I certainly agree, the bright goldtone is lovely here, especially on the large bird's scalloped chest, and even the backs are shiny beautiful for their sixty year age! Thank you for your fantastic observant comment
I'm delighted that you found this bird pair beautiful Lauren, and as always I love your creative vision to picture them in a rainforest together - that is a place where so many gorgeous colorful animals live, would that they made more variety of them in jewelry or glass (how about a sloth, or the different types of monkeys!) Your superb praise & lovely thoughts are wonderful, thank you so much
Both are very detailed! Cute birdies
Many thanks MrsT for your super comment & love for these Sphinx birds, glad you liked 'em and I always say, your multi brooch posts are the best & inspired me :)
I have little to add to all the wonderful comments above. Just want to say, I luv your birds! They’re perfectly beautiful!
