This is an interesting old thing wearing many coats of paint in as many varying states of wear. Otherwise of sturdy stamped steel construction, I can't find any evidence of who made it stamped anywhere on it, so if it is there its under all the paint somewhere now...?

It has plastic tips on its legs that obviously aren't original, pic 4 seems to suggest it has always had something like that (but probably mostly rubber versions) and indeed shows how various methods have been used to try to help keep them in place -- one leg has nothing at all, two with differing kinds of tape, and one with wound string.

Don’t laugh, but I see that as a thing of beauty. :-)
A little while with the electric sander and some pretty (bold/bright) Rustoleum spray paint, new tips in the legs…..it would be a perfect stool in the kitchen or by a bright window holding some nice lush house plant…..

Ditto Watchsearcher. It is a great chair! The metal trim on the curve of the back is especially nice. And so is the crackle paint.

      My kindest THANKS to vetraio50, Watchsearcher, Alfie21, vintagelamp, fortapache, PhilDMorris, and dav2no1 for your <love it>s!! :-) :-) :-)

I couldn't laugh WS & Alfie -- I see it exactly the same way y'all do I think... ;-) ;-) That 'trim' on its back is just how the stamped metal is rolled over for a smooth edge and to its paint, I agree the outermost gray layer has some *incredible* crazing going on?!!!! I'm not actually inclined to do any 'restoration' or repaint to it at all, leastways for the moment...my kitchen is too small and I've got bunches of other fun chairs and stools (who,*me*?) that'd be handier to use more or less 'as is' if I needed 'em...

Now OTOH, ifn's I ever get my 'pipe dream' of a cute little storefront or flea market booth, or part of either, or whatever easy/fun way to turn some of my collections into $omebody el$e$ trea$ure$ instead -- well, then it might end up being a 'stand for something(s) else' with a high enough pricetag that somebody'd *really havta want it* to carry it away...doesn't about every antique store or junk shop have a few 'fixture' items like that...?? <LOLOL>

AO, if’n ya ever do open that $hop, I’d be one of those people who camps out on the sidewalk, waiting for the door to open. ;^D
