Bought this a few months ago and just found it tonight. Still wrapped up in paper. It says on the price sticker Circa 1900 and I am not going to argue with that. "A SCHOENHEIT PIONEER DISPENSARY SAN JOSE" is embossed on the back. It is a rather tiny bottle 3" tall. Probably contained something no longer legal. Either that or something useless or a combination.
OK let's see. Augustus Schoenheit started his drug company in San Jose in the 1860s. Back then Los Angeles was a pueblo and all the action was in Northern California. The Civil War was going on but not really anything going on in California. That was a time of great change. From horses and kerosene to airplanes and electricity. That and telephones.
Basically it is a neat old bottle but hard to photograph.
Probably would cure what ailed ya. ;^)
Small bottle=potent contents??
Thank you very much Watchsearcher. Highly likely.
