This 2 1-2"L mom & cub cheetah brooch was hand painted on porcelain and signed on back by the artist Carol Halmy, from the 1980s
The Carol Halmy costume jewelry co was established in 1976 in Queens NY, primarily featuring animal designs
Very good unusual little brooch- at first I thought it was hand painted on a rock, it really has that tribal or rock art feel to it too. I love both their faces, really sweet and feline looking, mama kitty looks a bit nervous and guarded which I believe is how those cats are in real life?!
Very endearing little piece, gorgeous !~
What sweet faces! The artist has captured a certain quality that makes the piece endearing!
So, I totally agree with PhilDMorris. :^)
Thank you so much for the love everybody

Lauren you're absolutely right, it does have a rock type appearance as the porcelain is unevenly formed, and the artist does appear to have made it in the tribal style. Cheetahs are one of my favorite wild cats & I couldn't resist this piece, and yes the mom does have that twitchy look, ready to take off at top speed (0 to 60 mph in seconds, faster than a race car) to protect her baby! Terrific comment as always my friend, thank you so much
Thanks a bunch Phil for your always kind & fabulous compliments, these little cats stole my heart with their poignant faces and though it's not a traditional rhinestone brooch, I appreciate your seeing the beauty in it
Patricia these kitty faces truly are super endearing! The artist got everything right for cheetahs except the eyes, which although black lined are a golden brown color not green as with domestic cats - perhaps the green cat eyes were for cat lovers like yourself (me, I'm any everything animal person, though currently my pets are only in glass & jewelry!). Wonderful observant comment thank you so much
Thanks Mary I appreciate your lovely comment about these porcelain cheetahs, I don't collect porcelain jewelry as a rule but when I saw these adorable wild cats I was totally captivated and fell in love with them
This is so good, a moulded and hand painted brooch. The cheetahs are calming and loving.
Thank you for the cheetah love

Karen thank you for your phenomenal comment & seeing what I saw in this pair of cheetahs. The lady artist really captured the beauty of the cheetah here, one of my fave wild cats. So interesting how she moulded the porcelain to look like their upper bodies and colored it so realistically, but the faces just tug at your heart - nice to see this breed in a relaxed, bonding moment
