The decors "Luna" (1900), "Syrius" (1900) and "Vulkan" (1902) were probably produced exclusively for the glass manufacturer Bakalowits in Vienna. There is a "Vulcan" -like decor on a vase by Marie Kirschner (PN 1090/41), this is in the Düsseldorf Glass Museum ("Lötz I", Cantz, page 184, number 148) and is labeled "Pensee verlaufend" . The decor of this vase is very similar to "Vulcan", only the overlay is not greenish, as is usual with "Vulcan", but colorless. Perhaps the Lötz company used the protected decoration for Bakalowits in a slightly modified form for other clients.
These decors reflect a part of the "Viennese Modernism". They were very popular with the designers of the time, such as Jutta Sika, Arno Richter, Robert Holubetz, Hubert Gessner, Koloman Moser and Michael Böhm and they still look very modern after well over 100 years. In 1903, student designs from the Moser class were shown at the Michaelis fair in Leipzig (Centralblatt 18, 1903). Some of the models were made in "Vulcan". Jutta Sika designed 15 vase models for this, these were executed in Phenomenon and in Vulcan. For their twisted vase shapes, plaster models served as a template for the Lötz company ("Lötz", Cantz).

Einige Modelle davon waren in "Vulcan" ausgeführt.

These decors are exciting on their own but for the designers they must have been selected to help compliment and enhance their shape designs. Great examples of these decors. Thanks for sharing.
