This is a 16" Coke Sign that has am95 printed on the side. Does anyone know what that stands for? My Dad worked for the Coke Co. from the 50s to the early 80s and this was part of a large collection that he had. We used these signs as snow sleds when we were kids!! I don't think this one has been used for anything. I have had it in my garage for years.
Appears to be a late 50's early'60's button by the Allen-Morrison Sign Co., Lynchburg, VA. The 95 would be a batch #. In my experience, these 16" button or disc signs fetch a premium price on eBay, because they are often used to complete a pilaster style Coca-Cola sign combo (I've posted a picture of mine some time ago, you can follow my name link to it). Your sign looks to be in very good condition, your dad passed you down a little treasure. And you found a nice spot to hang and enjoy it, great! -- Dave
I am currently working on a post about dating signs. You can check out my shops Facebook page which is the same as my ID. To answer your question, the AM 95 stand for Allen-Morrison 9 September, 5 1955, If there was a dot after the 5, then it would be 1965.
I saw a guy who had a lot of these n.o.s @ the 127 sale last year. I thought the 95 was for 1995 just goes to show you learn something every day.
Thanks.
Allen-Morrison used to number their signs (for example) 8-47; meaning the sign was made in August of 1947. I don't know if the "95" means they made it in 1995, but that would make sense as well.
Does anyone knows what AM 96 stands for? Date wise?
Thank you.
