Here is a 4 1-2"H brown glass teddy bear made by Ronald Stennett Willson for Wedgwood Glass in the 1970s. Rare piece from Mr Willson's glass animal series as it is the only toy animal that I know of by him. Etched on bottom

Love the deep whiskey shade of him, he’s beautiful! I think bears are always a popular motif, they always look so good in any sculpt. At first when I seen it I thought he was a kangaroo! :P then I seen he has no long tail! It’s his rather narrow cheeks that give me the kangaroo vibe. :)

I love the change of light through the body and then the ears. Too cute.

It’s color reminds me of the color of honey, so I’ll call him Honey Bear :)
      Cute addition to your collection!

Absolutely wonderful, he has captured a beautiful teddy bear not going places in precious glass. He is glorifying a very special moment as only he could possibly do !~

Thank you Rocky for your wonderful comment and I LOVE your bears, they're adorable :) Very glad you enjoyed this brown glass teddy bear

Lauren it is a lovely whiskey color brown, truly a teddy bear color! You are right, the top part of the head & eyes are like a traditional teddy toy, but it gets narrow toward the chin and the nose they should be rounder - thought it looked most 'teddyish' in the side profile pic I chose for the thumbnail. I love kangaroos, wish Wedgwood had made one of them but as yet never found one. Excellent comment & keen observ, thanks so much you're always right on point!

Thanks Karen for your super praise & agree about the light thru the teddy's body - Wedgwood often (not always) added black or dark coloring to their glass animals similar to Viking's. The dark areas make animals like this difficult to photograph, for example the top head & ears were fine, but from the nose down it gave me a bit of grief when photographing. I think the best indication that it's a toy bear are the puffy embracing posed arms & legs, they're so cute :)

Honey Bear is a great name MrsT, that is now his name! It is truly a deep honey or whiskey brown, and also does remind me of the dark honey bear-shaped dispensers we often use with our tea. Thank you for your fantastic comment & great eye!

Thank you Phil for your always kind praise & commenting, it's very nice of you and much appreciated

Aw vintagelamp, thanks so much for your sweet comment and I am truly delighted you found this chubby lil teddy wonderful, he is "beary" grateful!!
