this was purchased with another necklace (to post later) at an estate sale for all of $1.00 each.
it is by MIRIAM HASKELL, An elegant multi-strand pearl necklace with gilt metal and rhinestone spiral links---a very graceful design. Pearl strands vary in length from approximately 16 to 20 inches, for the age of this piece it is in great shape.
I have leaned since finding this necklace that Miriam Haskell was an American designer of costume jewelry. With creative partner Frank Hess, she designed affordable pieces from 1920 through the 1960s.
Are you kidding?? $1 each! wow, that has got to be the buy of the century. Miriam Haskell is so rare and collected. There was a segment on Antiques Roadshow with a MH collector. This is such a fabulous example. She was a graduate of the University of Chicago, ( a bit of trivia). Gorgeous. So thrilled for you.
plein-air - I was so amazed to find this amongst other piece of things at the sale - I went because the lady is a neighbor of my Mother's, I am so glad I did. I will be looking for more estate sales in my future. thanks for your kindness. Lori
