    I think that this photo is a tin plate, but it's packed away so i can't check it. This is in a photo album I found in the trash around 10 years ago. Just by the man's fashion, i think this was taken in the 1850s. What do you think?

      Probably 1870s at the earliest.

      Uncased tintypes/ non- standard sizes like this were unusual in the Civil War era and before.
