I acquired this Kokeshi doll but have no info on it.
What I have gleaned from the internet is that it is “traditional “.
Also, it has a stamp on the bottom that I thought may give me a clue - but matching that is like the proverbial needle in a haystack.
It is about 7” tall, wood turned and hand painted.
    It represents a geisha,
Would love to ID the artist and see his/her other work.

Hello, actually she is a sosaku (creative) kokeshi doll, rather than a dento (traditional) doll.
The best places to look for signatures are either the soul portals or kokeshi wiki sites, although it’s quite a task.
If you collect kokeshi, or plan to become a collector, your best bet would be to join the Facebook group Kokeshi Village and post the pictures there with a tag #idhelp.
They’re a really friendly community with a collective wide knowledge of all things kokeshi.
      Best of luck,
      Beverley

Thank you Beverly, that is very helpful.
I have gone into the Soul portals site and that is helpful - nothing definitive yet - but getting me educated and also seeing some amazing art.
      Thanks so much!
