Found by the river in Eddyville, iowa just found it to be very neat. And wanted to share. Not exactly sure what it is but like it.

You've found an abrading stone. It's used rather like sandpaper - think abrasion - to lessen or remove a sharp edge on another stone in order to fashion an arrow head or other cutting tool. Hope that makes sense?
This might be a natural stone formation. I found a similar one years ago. The lines are veins of a slightly softer mineral which erodes faster than the body.
whatever it is, it's very cool!
