I have new additions to my brooch family, but I am uncertain about the earrings. I have never seen a backing like this. I've started searching, but no luck so far. If anyone could tell me if they are earrings, I would truly appreciate it.
Very pretty brooches raven, the large pink floral one is esp lovely. Don't know about the unusual earring backs, hope someone here will know
Thank you Newfld, the pink one is my favorite. Hopefully someone can help with the backings. It looks as if the can switch from one side to the other; I just didn't want to try and break one by accident. Anyway, I will keep looking. It's similar to a fish hook.
I think the name "Wingback" might be on the side of the loop it might be hard to read. if it is not there doesn't matter, they are called Wingback.
RichmondLori, thank you so much. Wingback, a new jewelry vocabulary word for me! Thank you for the lesson; learn something new everyday!
RichmondLori, daylight, eyeglasses, plus loop...it says Wingback!!!! Lol, thank you!
raven - I couldn't believe it when I saw your post, I had just within minutes had identified my first Wingback - it was like here is another just like that. Unbelievable. All my hours of surfing and researching did do good. Glad to help. Lori
oh please change the mystery to solved!
RichmondLori, that is so awesome. I have changed the mystery to solved and I owe it all to you! Thank you so much.
here is a little info on the wingbacks:
“Wingback” is a trademark of Wingback Inc. founded in New York. Wingback patent was applied for by Judith McCann in 1944 and granted in 1947 — patent #2414382; Judith McCann Designs was a division of Wingback Inc. (Danecraft Co. and Coro also used the Wingback on some of their earrings.)
Thank you for the info RichmondLori, truly appreciate it.
