I remember going to garage sales in the 1980's and almost always here in Canada were trashed Jewels by coro, never found a good set, you find some good clean sets I see.
Very beautiful swan brooch, the little faux pearls are really detailed and the fact that it’s both black and white make it really unique. She’s very pretty and I know I’ve mentioned this lots of times before but when I see a pretty swan brooch like this I instantly think of Swan Lake, I can see her in it now!
Sorry for the spam above Jenni- my wi-fi is acting up!
What a nice brooch!! The swan has movement in the styling that makes one believe it is skimming across the water. I love the mix of seed pearls with the black stones. Not one I have seen before.
Well, I didn’t know that Vendome was a division of Coro. Learn something new :)
Nice contrast of black and white and great detail!
With thanks to everyone for the love

Thank you Phil for your marvelous comment, you are so right many of the older Coro pieces have dull or missing stones, tarnished metal etc., it is distressing because so many of their older designs are classics esp birds. This Vendome division was mostly 50s-70s and perhaps made sturdier, this swan is definitely in good shape for its age. Also depends on the site you order from, I often find 'rl' to be more reliable for good condition though its gems are costlier
Lauren thank you for your fabulous praise, it is a pretty swan with the pearls which remind me of cascading bubbles, and the black wings are a perfect complement. Ah, Swan Lake when the lovers glide across in the swan 'boat' at the end, my favorite romantic ballet. Saw several live versions in the 1970s with visiting touring ballet co's including Britain's Royal Ballet who often came semi-annually & my dad would bring me to see them at our Metropolitan Opera House, so exciting to see ballet performed live. Oh never worry about comment doubles, when I notice them I delete the extras - it happens to all of us, and I have tremendous probs when posting, except for my phone my only wireless is a power pack which is compatible with my tablet pix, but getting the signal is an ongoing battle :)
Thank you Dawn for your super comment, yes this is a very unique design by Vendome & I always love to find something out of the ordinary, esp figurals. The pearls & black stone wings are really pretty, and she does seem to be gliding across the water gracefully as you see with real swans, so lovely to see on peaceful lakes
Thanks so much MrsT for commenting and the kind words, this swan does have very nice detail. According to my much referenced book Collecting Costume Jewelry 202 by Julia Carroll, there is a large chapter titled Coro & Vendome Jewelry (1901-1979), and she states: 'Corocraft and Vendome are commonly found Coro signatures' with corresponding jewelry example photos and some ads
Thank you Bruce for the thoughtful love for this swan and others today, you are so nice and your kind support means alot to me :)
Thanks aura & Sean for the very kind love for this Coro swan, you are both so nice & I really appreciate your thoughtfulness
