Ecko 881 Miracle Roll Can Opener

This is a neat little folding can opener. Not sure of the age, but I'm thinking 70s?

    Ecko not ECKO
Founded in 1889, EKCO (a name derived from its original identity as the Edward Katzinger Company).

"Ekco was founded by Edward Katzinger, a journeyman tinsmith who emigrated from Austria to New York City in 1881 at the age of 18. He left his secure $25-a-week job as a master mechanic in a New York tinsmith shop to open a business in Chicago in 1888. Named the Edward Katzinger Co."

Remember those old sponge mops that folded in half to wring out..those were Ecko. The company produced all sorts of kitchen products. The history and story is pretty interesting....from making it through the depression to merging with Alcoa...I will add links to the full history in comments below.

    NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH..
EKCO (from Eric Kirkham Cole Limited) was a British electronics company producing radio and television sets from 1924 until 1960. Expanding into plastic production for its own use, Ekco Plastics produced both radio cases and later domestic plastic products; the plastics company became Lin Pac Mouldings Ltd.

I resorted to using a little can opener like this not long ago when my “normal” size manual can opener wore out. The little one did the job just fine….I think it came home with me from my parents’ kitchen, so it could be fairly old.

It could be a little bit older -- I remember we always had one of these in Mom's kitchen drawer when I was growing up...it wasn't 'new' then...?? ;-) :-)

Not sure..if you look at the history(top link) it shows the full size being model 885 from early 60s..so possibly it's is older?
