I don't buy a lot of trench art anymore-- just looking for the odd or unusual items now.
This is a fairly mundane bullet ashtray with a topper that makes it stand out. The craftsman has created a small artillery piece on the central section. The body of the artillery piece is a bullet "LC 43" and scrap brass was used for the carriage.
The large central shell is a US 105mm with two 50 cal. bullets on the side (one missing).
I don't recall seeing another miniature artillery piece like this in all my years of collecting. Probably made by or for a WW2 artilleryman, but no unit identification has been engraved.
My photos of my trench art-- don't copy or use without my permission.
Thanks 33 and flash!
