      Hi Jen.d. :-)

How wonderful that you have something that's been in your family for so long.

Unfortunately, the Singer "C" serial number tables were lost because of WWII and the subsequent Cold War.

However, there is somebody who's spent quite a bit of time and effort assembling what fragments they could find, but provides them with this caveat:

"The information contained on this website is the result of my personal experience, hours of research, asking countless questions, intuition, deductions, assumptions, and stuff I just made up. While I welcome corrections and additions to the information contained here within, I am not liable for anything if you use this information in any way."

From what I can see, serial number "C3616908" would fall into this range:

      *snip*

      C-3.514.631 to C-3.764.520 1930 Wittenberge, Prussia, Germany

      *snip*

At a glance, I can tell that your machine is a model 15 (the tension disc assembly protrudes from the faceplate, which is a hallmark of the model 15).

      About the model 15:

      https://www.singersewinginfo.co.uk/15

The inactive needlebar website has a chart to help narrow down which specific submodel you have (the different bobbin case finger positions is really nitty-gritty detail):

      http://needlebar.org/main/15chart/

I suspect that yours might be a model 15-88

Here is a manual that covers submodels 15-88, 15-89, and 15-90:

Your decal set is called Trefoil:

I can't see the face plate or rear access panel, but here is a gallery of them for you to browse:

I can see part of your cabinet, but I'm afraid I can't quite tell which one it is. Here's a gallery of Singer cabinets for you to browse:

And in case I'm forgetting anything, here is my collection of vintage sewing machine links:

However, it's a lot to sift through, so if you have any questions you can just ask them here in a comment.
