i have similar ones which are clear glass, but i LOVE the green!!
Haha- I have blue pottery horse head bookends that I love very much( something about a horse head that’s so noble and stately) this one is a gorgeous deep green- reminds me of a kelpie(again!) or rather those two HUGE ones up in Scotland!
I have to ask though, do you have a pair of them or just this one?
A very beautiful and noble, classic pose very much of the 1940's style which I remember from my magazines. I used to own a similar stance one just over 20 years ago !~
This is gorgeous..love it..
With thanks to everyone for the love

Thanks so much ho2 for the super praise and I agree, animals in colored glass are tops because they just show up better in pictures. Glad you liked this horse in the green, it also came in white milk glass but I always prefer transparent color
Lauren thank you my friend for your awesome comment, I can see the water kelpie image here, and horse head bookends do have a noble & stately look. This green horse is a singleton, it is rather a large heavy piece so if I had two it would be a challenge to get them both in an enlarged picture, but I may see if I can find another to actually use as bookends
Thank you Phil for your marvelous comment & praise, I absolutely concur the 1940s designs were very stylish & elegant. Although this is a different maker I think perhaps a deco influence such as Royal Hickman's work for Heisey, he did some really gorgeous horses
Penny thank you for the lovely compliment & finding this horse gorgeous, it has such pretty touches such as the knobby mane, that style was found on some full body horse bookends and is always impressive
Wasn't this first made by Smith or something like that...? its been a long time sense I readed up on these...
Very attractive bookend, nicely detailed
Love everything about this!
Thanks all for the love
