Today was 'rescue day' for a few old pieces of estate furniture. This one is an antique black walnut dropleaf table with turned legs. I don't know exactly how old it is, whatever 'style' it might be, or any of its actual history, just that it needed saving from now questionable storage. ;-) :-) I'll guess it to be in the 100-150 yr old range...?
Turns out a little good karma might have possibly been involved in whatever prompted me to go rescue furniture on this particular day, too. While on the way to my safe storage with it, I stopped by the house and my new neighbors came out for a look-see at what I was dragging around today, and it seems they've been specifically *looking for* a small dropleaf table for their dining room. Didn't take long at all to get it down from the truck and on its way to a good new home with them?!! :-) :-) :-)
Pics 1-3 are as it came outta the old place, complete with green cling-wrap and a liberal coating of dust and dirt -- pic 4 is a quick one under their carport light a little later. By the time I got back from unloading everything else, it had already received a fresh drink or two of good furniture oil and was again starting to show how lovely it really is, so we carried it inside to begin its new life?! :-) :-) :-)
Brilliant story, and beautiful piece of furniture. You did a very good thing!
A Wonderful gift you gave your new neighbors ! That is a beauty.
