My father brought this back from India in the 1950s... here are the two sides.
I guess it's brass. I was told that the wear on the (obverse?) chin was caused by repetitive touching/rubbing during some sort of ritual.
Buddhist? Hindu?

Some lucky Googling tells me it's Mahakala! A Tibetan deity with a lot of intriguing qualities. Wow.
Now I need to find out more about this abbreviated face pendant with a rubbed-away chin...
