Per the Singer serial number tables at the International Sewing Machine Collectors' Society website, serial number S2252855 was one of a block of 200,000 consecutive serial numbers (2188280 through 2388279) allotted July-December 1907 by the central office to one of its factories, and all were destined to be stamped into the beds of model 28K machines:

About the model 28K (the "K" suffix means that it was made at Singer's Kilbowie/Clydebank factory):

The decal set looks like Paperclip, which is a relatively modern decal set, but was also applied to refurbished machines:

(Class 28) This style was also commonly used on refurbished machines (as in this example), incongruously applied to models that were out of production before the decals were designed. The bed edge transfers were cut to length to fit variously sized beds.

Your 28K was furnished with a hand crank at some point, which wouldn't be unusual, because the model 28 is a three-quarters size version of the model 27. It was designed to be portable, although it also could have been ordered installed in a cabinet.
