The hinge is not wrought but rolled mild steel. It is a clever means to hold together panels that need to collapse and open. My guess is they weren't invented and mass produced until mid to late 19th century. I haven't come up with a patent date yet and am curious about how early they might have been made this way. Any leads anyone can share? Thanks!
