Here is a 6 1-2"H teal or blue-green bubble glass penguin by Altaglass (1950-1988) of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada ca 1970s. With two orig labels, the black & gold name on bottom, and golden maple leaf on side
He reminds me of your last penguin post too- he’s great and once again seems to be staring up at the northern lights! :P
I adore his color- that shade of teal blue-green is beautiful, reminds me of the sea, and him being really sleek in shape makes me think of a frozen icicle :)
Nice color. He reminds of the TV show with flipper. My brother and I were kids when that show came on and we would run around the house making that dolphin noise driving out parents crazy.
Nice to see this Canadian glassmaker and their penguin !~
Love penguins! Love the color!
Love your Altaglass penguin. I just read a book on this Canadian glass company. Something to be proud to own and the colour is amazing!

Thank you Searching for your marvelous praise, I too love this blue-green glass & he's got such cute flappers! Oh I love to find glass animals with the labels on, as unless I have seen one online elsewhere with label or pictured in a book to verify, I won't i.d. here if I'm not sure. Aw I'm blushing, you are so kind saying that about my glass animals and right back atcha, I love your gorgeous jewelry collection!
Lauren thank you for your wonderful comment & you're right, seems most of my glass penguins have that upturned pointy nose - I think real penguins sort of do the same thing, maybe it IS from looking up at the Northern Lights! Penguins are so timely now with winter approaching. Isn't that a lovely color, yes very oceanic
Oh jb I sure do remember Flipper and his oy-oy-oy noise, he was so adorable & smart, and like you I loved watching the show. You & your brother sound like my two younger brothers, who mostly would drive my mom crazy either poking themselves like the three stooges, or imitating the wrestlers they saw on TV (there were no warnings like "kids don't try this at home" back then). Super comment & memories thank you so much!!
Phil I love the Canadian Altaglass animals they are so pretty, many have the bubble glass & nice colors. I want to get more but will probably wait til past the holiday season, as Canada shipments will probably be delayed since the US postal deliveries are bad enough within our states right now. Thanks for your always fab comment
vintagelamp I'm delighted that you loved both the penguin & the color, that's my Dec birthstone color & I love it too! Thanks so much for your awesome praise
Thank you Dawn for your terrific comment, the book on Altaglass must be so interesting, I know it was founded by a Czech glassmaker and they made beautiful glass besides animals - if you check in our CW search box, there are many lovely Altaglass examples here including a pitcher posted by my Canadian friend Rose (antiquerose). Glad you loved this pretty blue-green color too!
With warm thanks to you all for the love

Karen I've got to say that your wonderful upbeat compliments and loving my posts has really made my day, whenever things look bleak (having a slight hiccup with medication causing weight gain which I hate being petite, and add the inactivity brought on by the covid fears - it's minor I know, but still gets to you) I can count on a big ray of sunshine from my fave Aussie friend. Thank you for taking the time and I hope all is well with you & yours, it's GREAT to see you!!
Thank you Daisy for the super kind loves for this and other of my posts today, you're so kind and I'm totally grateful for your generous support :) Will get to thanking you for the rest when I have more time
