My FIL found this burrows in an old pig pen on his property. Very heavy. He repainted it. Any ideas of age?

I'd think 1930's-40's or maybe even a little earlier given the cast iron -- a GREAT old relic of road signage from before *anything* was standardized?!! :-) :-) :-)

In that this sign has both a word and an arrow it would be a sign made during the transition to Pictorial signs rather than just a sign with words. In 1927 the U.S. sign standardization law went into effect. This was because not everyone could speak English so pictorial images became the standard. Therefore This could possibly be anywhere after 1927 until materials became more standardized around the country.
