I assume that's what it is - a Japanese lantern. It's definitely got some age to it. The top comes off and i had to search around the thrift store to find the top. This piece is just under 8 inches high. i wonder what it was for?

Hi vintagelamp. i'll check out your pagoda now. I've got a 6-7 ft tall one in my nursery. i've had it for a long time.
