In 1976, to celebrate the Bicentennial of the United States of America, 7-UP issued a series of commemorative cans in a promotion called "United We Stand". The fronts of the pull-top steel cans featured the red silhouette and name of one of the 50 US States along with its year, state number, Capital name, and slogan all above the green 7-UP logo. The backs of the cans carried unique patterns of "7UP"s printed together (or not) in what we'd now call a pixelated design, in either red or blue on a white background. (except for Wyoming and Alabama, the two cans in pic4 that were respectively the 'topper' and 'key')
IF one managed to collect all fifty cans in the series, the 'key' can revealed the order for each (numbered) can to be stacked in a pyramid shape -- all the 7UP pixels together then formed an overall representation of UNCLE SAM.
I collected these myself in 1976 but don't believe I ever accumulated the full set of 50 -- I was close though -- and these particular cans were stored separately than the rest, I (now) think they were my extras/duplicates.
States seen here include Indiana, Wyoming, New York (2), Kansas, Maine, Alabama, Vermont (2), Louisiana, Rhode Island, New Mexico(2), New Jersey (2), Maryland, Idaho, Mississippi, New Hampshire, and Colorado.
