I have long wanted a vase like this but either the quality of the piece was poor or the price was beyond my reach. However this met all my requirements. The enamelling/gilding is detailed, delicate and in perfect condition. The interior of the vase is pale blue though the interior of the foot is white. Each of the four 'arcs' of the form has a different design, a feature I like. In fact for such a slender vase there is a lot of enamelling! There are no markings on the vase at all but if anyone has a view on origin I'd be pleased to hear opinions.
Height 26cm./10 inches
My best bet would be Harrach, Peggy..love these dark vases and love the shape of yours, very nice.
Outstanding in its elegance! The shape, the blue lining, the enamelling...every element of the design oozes style.
Harrach is my guess as well...
so elegant and distinguish
Penny, thank you for your input, and I'd bet on the same horse!
Marin, it certainly has the attention to detail you expect with Harrach, so I'm hoping you are right.
Thank you, Sylvia, it was worth waiting for!
The interior colour is a perfect foil for the black exterior and that delicate painting, and the shape is so refined!
A gorgeous piece Peggy and your photos show it so well.
Karen, once again a thoughtful and generous comment. You too will know the pleasure of finally coming to the end of a long search.
This is truly a beautiful vase, Peggy. I agree with Penny that it was most likely made by Harrach.
